Infinity

I took an old chair and completely took it apart. Often times chairs and other pieces of furniture is past done from family member to family member. While thinking about this I thought about what other kinds of things get past down generation to generation. I came across the idea of a pocket watch because on the back of the chair there was the design of two infinity signs, Infinity is endless. Time is also endless. Much like the chair was and what I turned it into Time is man-made. At one point it didn’t exist. It is just away for us to keep track of are days and what we can do with them. This could be why time is infinite; it’s not even a real thing. To go with the idea of time is infinite for the hands on my pocket watch I used an infinity sign to mean infinite time. I place my pocket watch over a map to go along with the meaning that no matter where you are what you are doing time will never stop its ongoing. No matter how bad we may want to slow time down it is impossible. Inside the pocket watch I made a picture of an old women and on the bottom of the legs holding up the map there is little booties. This is to show the ageing process from young to old and the ongoing of passing down from generation to generation. From the pocket watch to the ground I made a chain out of infinity symbols. This chain also looks like a chain of DNA this leads from the top of the pocket watch to the bottom of the booties. This also connects the idea of the passing down of DNA, the ongoing family line. The wood blocks holding the pocket watch above the map are symbols of me and each of my siblings. On the bottom of the pocket watch there are to block forms burned into the wood with lines leading from them to each of my siblings and me. The burned blocks are supposed to represent my parents and the lines are what we got from them. We are also placed all over the map to show even though we are family and share some of the same traits that doesn’t mean we stop when the other does time is infinity and it just keeps going no matter where one of us are or what we are doing. I also lined up the first of kin with the 12 o’clock on the pocket watch to show sort of a time line of who came first to last. Underneath the map I have all sorts of glue and wood burning marks that start off really chaotic and sort of still out.  This is a map of influences pushed on to forming me to who am. This also works with the clock time as I was young at 12 oclock a lot of influences were thrown onto me but slowly as I grew up I started to become my own person with less and less influence and control from others for who I am and am going to be.
