Innocence

Innocence

To construct this piece I used over 40 feet of steel rods and 15 cans of spray foam. This piece is very organic on the surface. The point of this piece is to make you feel uncomfortable to be in. While inside you gaze at yourself to reflect upon oneself. This figure does conform to the shape of a vagina. I see this as looking at yourself once innocent in a womb but now affected to no longer be that innocent being. Much like a child this piece was built up and formed. The steel structure underneath represents the strong innocence. This structure than was covered with spray foam. The spray foam representing everything that has taken our innocence away. As you look in the mirror it appears that the spray foam is taking over that space and soon will swallow you whole. This is to give that sense of being over powered.
